Living in a city means you most likely know of or have heard of almost everything there is to learn about it. But have you ever even visited some of the must-sees around you? Make a weekend of it and be a tourist in your own town at these well-known spots around Fort Worth. The best part? You can explore them all close to Elan River District.
One of the highlights of living in Fort Worth is the variety of things there is to do all around you. One of our personal favorites is strolling through the Fort Worth Botanic Garden. If you haven’t been…you must. They’re located just a 10-minute drive from your home, so it’s easy to make the trip. From seasonal blooms happening right before your eyes, to a Japanese Garden you’ll never want to leave, it’s the perfect place to find some peace and quiet.
Did you know your home is just a 15-minute drive from one of the coolest aviation museums in the nation? Now you know. Take a blast to the past and see some of the aircrafts from our nation’s most historical events. Get up close and personal with planes like the Douglas C-47 Skytrain used in World War II and possibly even take a ride. Your head will truly be in the clouds.
Finally, the Fort Worth Stockyards National Historic District was established in 1866 and shows the pinnacle of Western living that has transformed over the years. Stroll the original brick walkways, peek into the longstanding corrals and even watch the world’s only cattle drive that occurs twice daily. While you’re there, you can also enjoy a bite at Hooker’s Grill and grab some souvenirs at local shops. Do some genuine tourist exploring this weekend, you won’t regret it.
